Sometimes you just need color: bold, unapologetic, happy color. This tag was one of those projects where I let go of any “safe” choices and fully embraced bright tones and playful contrasts.

I started the background using gloss sprays in vibrant shades, letting them blend and react naturally on the surface. I didn’t overwork it—I simply tilted the tag, added water in a few spots, and let the colors move freely. The mix of pinks, teals, and yellows created this energetic base that already felt alive before adding anything else.

To build more interest, I layered in some stenciling and texture, keeping the patterns quite loose and organic. The circles and marks add rhythm to the piece, almost like confetti scattered across the tag. I love how they bring movement without taking attention away from the focal point.

For the main composition, I chose a vintage portrait and surrounded it with collage elements and bold stamped imagery. The contrast between the old photo and the modern, bright background is one of my favorite things, it creates that slightly unexpected, quirky feel. I added small details like the painted cheeks and layered papers to give the piece a bit of personality and humor.

The sentiments came naturally with this one: “Be happy, be bright, be you” and “Trust your crazy ideas.” They felt perfectly in line with the mood of the tag. Sometimes the best projects come from experimenting, taking risks, and not worrying too much about the outcome.

This tag is a reminder that color can completely shift your creative energy. When in doubt, go brighter, go bolder and most importantly, have fun with it.
