Mother

Hello Crafters !

Here we are with a brand new challenge over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is:

Mother's Day / Feminine

As it’s the first Monday of the month we are showcasing a brand/company. This week we are all using our very own Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products. You don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge but if you have them we would love to see them used.

For this challange Simon Says Stamp kindly offers a $25 gift voucher to shop over Simon Says Stamp!
Simon Says Stamp is also on Instagram! If you would like you can also share your projects there, but don’t forget to use the hashtag #sssmchallenge

For this project I wanted to create a Mother’s Day tag that feels detailed and tactile, without being complicated to reproduce. The focus is on layering, texture, and controlled use of color.

I started with a manila tag and I stamped a subtle crackle texture using a background stamp from Simon Says Stamp. It’s not immediately obvious, but it adds depth and breaks up flat areas.

I built the background using Distress Ink from Ranger Ink. I worked in soft greens and at the end added touches of pink to keep the palette fresh and suitable for the theme.

To enhance the worn look, I added light splatters and ink blending around the edges, then defined the border with stitches.

The focal point is the butterfly from Stampers Anonymous (Tim Holtz collection). I stamped it in black and colored it with Distress Ink, keeping the tones consistent with the background. This helps everything feel cohesive instead of disconnected.

For dimension, I layered die-cut letters to form the word “MOTHER,” slightly offsetting them for a more organic look. I also added small foliage elements to soften the composition and frame the butterfly.

The final result is a textured, layered tag that combines vintage details with a fresh color palette—perfect for a handmade Mother’s Day piece that feels personal but still clean and intentional.

And that’s all for today, If you have any questions, suggestions or if you want to let me know what  you think of this project, leave a message!

Stay happy , stay creative…Till next time!

Ciao Zoey
