Today I’m sharing a small mixed media tag inspired by the theme Things With Wings.
I decided to create something with a warm vintage feel, combining texture, layers and one of my favorite motifs lately: bees.

For the background I used a honeycomb thinlits to add dimension and interest, then layered different shades of browns, golds and muted neutrals to keep everything soft and aged. I love how the metallic touches catch the light without overpowering the project.

The bee became the focal point of the tag. I kept the wings lighter to create contrast against the darker background and added stitching, threads and worn edges for a more organic look. The black ribbon at the top gives the piece a little extra movement and finishes the tag nicely.

To complete everything, I added the word happy in a bold warm gold. I liked the contrast between the distressed textures and the brighter sentiment.

This was such a fun project to make and a good reminder that even small tags can tell a story through layers and texture.
