This week’s Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge theme is Think Pink, and I decided to create two pink mixed media ATCs featuring some rather unusual moon faces!

Pink isn’t exactly the first color that comes to mind when I think of my usual projects, so I wanted to give it a slightly grungy twist. Plenty of texture, vintage details, metallic finishes, and a little controlled chaos. Much better..definitely more me than I thought LOL!

For the backgrounds, I combined torn book pages with collage elements, creating a mix of printed text and vintage details.

I used Crackle Paste through a stencil to introduce texture and break up the flat surfaces. The raised patterns add another layer of interest, especially where they overlap the collage underneath.

The pink palette keeps both ATCs connected, while the darker details and touches of black prevent everything from becoming too sweet.

The focal points are definitely the stars of these ATCs. Or should I say moons? Eheheh

I used Finnabair moulds to create the resin embellishments: one full moon face and one crescent moon. Their sculpted details bring a completely different dimension to the projects.

To add color, shine, and extra interest, I incorporated Finnabair Unicorn Effect Paste and Finnabair Wax. The shimmering accents contrast with the rougher background textures, while the metallic finish helps emphasize the dimensional elements.

I also included Tim Holtz Idea-ology embellishments to enrich the collage and give the compositions that slightly messy, vintage character I always gravitate toward.

The final details are the contrasting black accents and the sentiments “my darling” and “you are enough.” Small elements, but they help balance the rather dramatic moon faces.

A Few Things Worth Remembering

  • Texture matters. Crackle Paste and stenciling help create dimension without relying entirely on embellishments.

  • Contrast keeps pink interesting. Dark accents give the softer colors more definition.

  • Let the focal point do its job. The resin moons already have plenty of character, so the surrounding layers can stay a little chaotic without competing too much.

That’s it from my desk today!
