One of my favorite details to add to tags is old book paper—or, in this case, vintage sheet music.

My inspiration came from the Idea-ology Snapshot I chose as the main focal point: a photograph of an old marching band.

For the background, I built up a highly textured base. I started with stamping and Distress Ink, then layered on plain collage paper, letting it wrinkle naturally to create deep texture. I highlighted those textures with more Distress Ink—both spray and ink pad—and softened everything with a light wash of watered-down gesso.

Next, I built a layered cluster with different paper scraps and chose the word “TEMPO” as my embellishment. From the Idea-ology ephemera pack, I also added the piece that reads “Established 1864”—such a perfect little detail for this project!
