Here we are to a brand new challange over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is “use your favorite tool” – and for my interpretation I used a bunch of my favorite tools, because let’s face it…….. no one can have just ONE favorite tool!!! LOL!!!!
I used a couple of dies because I really like how die cutting pieces add so much texture and interest to a project, then I also used a lot of distress paint and paper pads and other tools to distress and blend.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2717″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I created this mini art journal book using a 12×12 piece of manila paper. I cut it in half and folded both pieces in half.
With the We R Memory Keepers Envelope punch I created a little tab at the bottom of the last page.

I covered the entire manila paper with some strips of old book pages and then I lightly gessoed them.

I glued the two pieces together.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2718″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The design is similar to every page. I used distress paint to add some color and to achieve this soft look, I simply watered down the paint a LOT and removed a bit of color also with some baby wipes (another of my favorite tools!).

I added a Manila Tag to add some interest to the page since I didn’t want to put ANY photo or images except the script and some stamps.

I cut pieces of Tim Holtz Paper Pad and glued them to the page. I made sure every strips was different size and I also distressed the edge of the strips with the Prima Marketing Distressing Tool.

With two Tim Holtz Layering Stencils and some distress inks,  I added some more textures, I used it lightly so that it was a subtle texture.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2721″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]When the background was done to every page, I used Distress Ink Ground Espresso all around the edges to give it a vintage feel. Then I figured out it was too dark and decided to add some white paint to bring back some light into the art journal.

Once everything was dry I used Distress Paint Antiqued Bronze to add some more brightness and sprinkled a bit of perfect pearls.

The last two steps where to add the wording and the stitches all around the pages.

The poem is from Lang Leav and it is from the Book “The Universe of Us” — what can I say? I am a hopeless romantic… 🙂

If you are interested to know what the words say, you can read it in this image.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”2715,2716,2717,2718,2719,2720,2721,2722″ img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
