Hello Crafters!

Here we are to a brand new challange over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is “Shine Bright Like a Diamond” and we are featuring our beloved Tim Holtz!
so grab all your sparkles and show us your fantastic projects! You do not like sparkles and glitters? Well, then you are like me, but this does not mean that you cannot join us with this awesome theme! In fact I will show you how I interpreted the theme without getting my fingers too much glittery! LOL

I cut several stars using a Sizzix Die from a couple of pieces of cardboard. I glued the stars together till I reached the width I wanted. To glue the cardboard together I used the Distress Collage medium Matte, which works amazingly with cardboard. I set aside to try, meanwhile I mixed a bit of gesso and a bit of Distress Collage Medium Matte in a small container. This will be used to glue down the tissue wrap paper as background.
You do not need to do that but I also wanted to tone down the cardboard so I decided to mix the two things, but you can only use gesso if you wish as glue.

For the sides, I used Tissue Tape, I love it! But since that tape is not that sticky I also used a bit of Distress Collage Medium Matte to help it to stick down. I covered everything with a mix of Distress Crayons in the yellowish tone and then I covered everything with the Distress Collage Medium vintage. I let it dry completely and then I darkened the edge with the Distress Crayon in Black Soot.

Last step was to add some stamps here and there, add the sentiment and then mold the little wire figure. I couldn’t find the metal wire i usually use, so I used the Prima Marketing Wire, which worked aswell!

For this challange Simon Says Stamp kindly offers a $50 gift voucher to shop over Simon Says Stamp!

  1. This is perfect, Zoey! I really thought it was a wooden star and wouldn’t say there are layers of cardboard! What a fabulous result. Love the yellow shades and the simplicity of this piece. Hugs, Marzena

  2. Zoey, your projects always make me smile. Somehow you are able to create things that speak. You have such an amazing artistic gift that so few have. I love this!!!
