Hello Crafters,

Today I wanted to start a new journey, a new adventure. My most talented friend Anna – aka Finnabair – just launched this awesome new project of hers called Art Daily Cafe. You can read all about it over the dedicated blog here.

It started today and this month’s theme is “Door Closing, Door Opening” and here’s the mood board :

I always been fascinated by doors, especially the old ones with chipped paint on it. I don’t know why, they always seem to tell a story, to hold onto something deep and dear. Lately I am going through a bit of hard time, nothing serious or big, I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed with what’s going on with my life. I have a bit of hard time at work where the stress level is really high and makes me second guess a lot of the choice and pattern I decided to follow while ago.

I wanted to go back journaling since long time now, and this seems the right time to do so.

Perfect timing.

Perfect weather.

Perfect theme.

I am working over a mixed media paper that I covered with a digital page I got from here. I love working with these high quality digital images. I covered everything with gesso and started building up texture.

Often we spend time thinking about doors that open or close, but I think we do not reflect more on doors that won’t open. Sometimes we want something so badly that we truly deeply think that it is what it is best for us. So we stare at the door and we wait. As if waiting is worth all the sighs, the tears and sometimes the mad laughs.

I think that sometimes if the door do not open, it only means that it is not our door.

As rough as it may sound, I think it is true. We ofter pursuit what we think it suits us, but not what it is actually there for us.

And I wish it was as easy as it is writing about it…

Anyway… back to my journal… as you might see from these snippets, there is a lot of yummi texture going on on my spread! I love the result. I know there isn’t a lot of grey in here, but…there is enough for me!
