Hello Crafters!

First of all….happy new year! Although I couldn’t wait for 2016 to end, I can’t believe we are already in 2017! So let’s start all over again, starting with the Monday Challenge over Simon Says Stamp!!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is “Start Afresh!” and we are showcasing the fabulous Carabelle Studio Products this week. If you have them we would love to see them used, but you don’t have to use them to join in with the challenge!

I covered part of the ATC with gesso, as always, I start every project with a bit of gesso. I love the resist effect that you get when you apply over some color. I let the gesso dry then I took two distress crayons and blended them together. i love the mix of pink and oranges, I simply LOVE it!

I stamped the background with Archival Ink and this awesome stamp by Carabelle Studio that I bought while ago but I never used.

I grabbed two Distress Markers in the same tone of the distress crayon and color into the lines to let the color pop up even more.

I took the Numbered Tim Holtz Stencil and I applied Modeling paste over it in order to create the “2017”.  On purpose I wanted the stencil to look like it was cut in line…simply because it is the beginning of the year and I liked the idea of something that is just “started”….don’t know if you get the idea? LOL!

When the modeling paste was dry I took again distress crayons and added color over the paste – I used the black ink to add some shadows and then I went all around the ATC sides to make them dark.
Do not freak out…. I know it is CRAZY that I did not add any stitches…but……… I am moving, so everything is packed away! 🙂

  2. This is really a lovely piece and it was a treat to read your creative process. I love what you did with the Distress Crayons and I especially liked the way that you cut off the 2017 so we only see it partially. Gives it such a cool look!
