Here we are to a brand new challange over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is Powder Power! And use either Embossing Powders or Pigment Powders.
For this week’s project I used both of them! I wanted to keep it simple so I made an ATC with not too much bulk!

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]With this week’s project, I guarantee you I will change the way you see approaching a Challenge. I will show you that you do not need a lot of supplies –although we all love shopping at Simon Says Stamp (hint hint: have you seen all the new releases?!?!) and you do not need too much preparation.
Why I am telling you this? Because I know that sometimes taking part of a Challenge can be…challenging! For so many reason! “oh i do not have all the supplies!” “oh I have no ideas” “oh I do not know what the challenge means” and yada yada…

Well my dear, fear not! Zoey is here to show you a super easy peasy project that I hope it will inspire you to take part of your Monday Challenge![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2407″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The key when you are stuck, at least this works for me, is to start little. So I decided to work on a small surface, this way I don’t get too much scared by the white spaces, and we all know how they can be intimidating! Second I gather all my supplies – this challenge requires you to use embossing powder and powder pigment. You don’t have them? Well I am sure that you have at least one of them…you do not need to use both. You do not have any? Well, you have make up , right? Shh, I won’t tell anyone! Then you will need stamps, stickers, dies…anything to embellish!

So…after gathering the supplies, all you have to do is start with the background. Try to start with 3 shades of color, so you do not get over helmed and make a mess LOL. I used two shades of green and a pearl copper.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2408″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Pigment powder are awesome because you never know what you will get out of it, you just put powder here and there and then add water! Nothing easier, right?…and if you still manage to make a mess, like I did, do not worry. Our best friend is called : GESSO! So take a bit of gesso, I use my fingers to apply it , but you do not need to go banana and you can use a sponge, credit card, anything actually! Apply the gesso where you used too much color and bam, you are set!

Now that your background is done, you have to dry it very well, And when I say very well I mean it! My all time mistakes, that I keep doing over and over is to not let the paper dry enough…so when I go and stamp, opsie…..I get spots where the ink didn’t work!
And you think that after all this time, i learned my lesson? Of course not. In fact, even in this small ATC, my stamped image was all corked…but again, my best friend Gesso came to the rescue….I simply added gesso where the stamped image was not that perfect.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2409″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The final step is embellish! And if you did like I did, and used a big stamp, you will not need much to embellish. I used a thinlits by Tim Holtz and Sizzix, I die cut the word “LOVE” and embossed it with black embossing powder and then I added a stickers from the Tim Holtz stickers collection.

Another thing you can do to embellish your project, is to add shadows with some more color. To do so, I usually take a bit of powder on a small cup, add a really tiny bit of water and use a watercolor brush to go around the things I want to highlight….in my case, the word love.

I like the way the umbrella from the stamp is “protecting” the word Love from the rain….

See the hidden message there? Love when nothing is sure. Love is always the answer, even when outside is raining.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”2406,2407,2408,2409″ img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I hope you had fun reading this post and that it will help you to fight against the fear of failing and the fear of not being enough — it really takes small things to do something that will make you happy!
This ATC was nothing “huge” or “complicated” or……..”too technique”, it was just FUN!

I can’t wait to see what you will create![/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
