I covered the backrgound of this tag with a small piece of Tim Holtz Tissue Wrap Paper and Tim Holtz Tickets and also a flash card. You can’t really tell I added these to the backrgound because I got a little carried away with the gesso, so you noticed them only if you look closely!
sometimes you change your mind throughout the whole creative steps and you just have to not think about it too much.
Anyway, I glued them down with collage stick and let the glue dry well. I then covered part of a wash made with 1 part of gesso and 3 parts of water and then gesso added with a spatula. I set to dry completely.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3037″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I used distress oxide to color the background I love mixing different colors together, these are by far one of my favorite “invention” from Ranger. Simply AWESOME. I made sure to dry well and I was so happy with the result that I had the awesome idea to tone down everything again with a wash of gesso, but since the last layer was not completely dry I got this really faded color effect, which after all, I do like!
I stamped around the tag and glued down this cute little girl — the image is from an Indigo Blu vintage photo set. It is awesome!
I fussy cut the girl from the photo then half way in i got bored (yes i do not like fussy cutting) so I decided to cut the down part….
Since the way I cut the girl made her look weirdo like floating in nothing, I added a couple of circles with my fingers and gesso. I used a pencil to draw some doodles.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3038″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Last step was to add sewings – so I sewed around the tag and under the girl to add some more interest to that part that still felt like it was missing something….LOL

I added the sentiments and few decorations.

What we have learned today? That as school, even in mixed media, the key is to not be let down by the downsides but always keep your head up, work hard and achieve your goals. (I need another holiday!)[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”3035,3036,3037,3038,3039″ img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

  1. This is a really fantastic tag, Zoey! I really like the way you created a whole entire scene here and how you brought it to life through the sentiments you chose to include. I love the sense of courage and inspiration I feel for this little girl and how you brought everything together so perfectly. That color palette, too, is amazing and something that I never would’ve thought to try myself. I always look forward to seeing your work!
