Here we are to a brand new challange over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is “use some lucky stars” !
This was such an awesome theme to work with, so I am really excited to see what you guys will come up with this time!
I used a beautiful Stencil from a Simon Says Stamp Exclusive….and I loved it!

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1849″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_column_text]For the background of this art journal cover I upcycled a piece of cardboard that I distressed a little using scissors. I covered it entirely with gesso and I used Dylusions Paint to add color. I kept adding colors over colors trying to blend the layers in between. I loved it so much I wasn’t able to stop!

I added few stamps here and there using Archival Ink and stamps by Tim Holtz, I love how the black makes the background stands out even more…[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1852″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_column_text]I applied modeling paste through a Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Stencil released in September. I love this mosaic star and it was perfect for this week’s theme! I let the modeling paste dry then I added color. I tried to make an hombre effect, but I am not entirely sure that it worked….lol!

I used a stickers from the Small Talk stickers by Tim Holtz, this one was also so perfect![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1850″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_column_text]The spine of the Art Journal cover is simply a Manila Tag that I also colored with Dylusions Paint and stamped with Archival Ink and some script stamps by Dina Wakley.

I sewed over the cardboard — yes you read it right! The cardboard was not that thick so I tried to sew on it, I went really slow and…it worked! I also stapled the cardboard over a piece of burlap to make it stand out a bit more.

With the Distress Paint Black Soot I added some shadow here and there and with the white paint pen I added scribbles around the stenciled star![/vc_column_text][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”1846,1847,1848,1849,1850,1851,1852″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

  1. LOVE how this turned out! The amazing thing here is that it looks fantastic from any angle. I loved seeing it from the side view as much as I loved the front (and that was a lot of love)! You have a great talent for building up colors in a fascinating way and your attention to detail is incredible. I particularly love how you did the white outline of the star. Brilliant!!!
