Here we are to a brand new challenge over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is “Inspired by Music”

I get a lot of inspiration from the music I listen to, sometimes a tunes catch me and it stucks with me and travels in my head till it reaches emotions and it “let my hands dance”….if it makes any sense! Usually I get inspiration from the lyrics of the songs, not the whole thing, maybe just a couple of verses, or words, or even simply how it rhymes… I like the way musics inspires me!
This time, as I was thinking at what song to be inspired by, I decided to let iTunes do the job for me. I let it run on shuffle, till it hit the song that spoke to me. I have to admit that I have spent quiete 30 minutes in bed before finding it…but as soon as it started, I knew it was the song I was waiting for.
The song I was inspired by is Intro HQ By XX – it is an instrumental song by a band i really like. I love everything about it, it is catchy, it is powerful, it is harmless, it is everything I wanted to listen to all day long.

I turn it on, and I just let my hands dance to the sound of it…

For this challange Simon Says Stamp kindly offers a $50 gift voucher to shop over Simon Says Stamp!

I always start my projects with the best intention of showing off the paper, but somehow I always end up covering the paper and you can hardly recognize the paper I used…but it was the one with the map all over the paper. I wanted a “travel theme” but…. LOL. I started at point “a” and I arrived to the point “not really travel theme but ok”.
I also added a couple of strips of designer tape just to give some more interest to the background.

I covered it with a big of gesso applied with a spatula.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3693″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I let the gesso dry well, then I added a bunch of distress paint. I love how it is easy to spread and blend the color. Again, I wanted a travel theme, and everytime i think of travelling, I think at blues tones…So I used three distress paint from the Blue scheme and I blended them together with my fingers. I let it dry again, then I added some more texture and depth with the Infusions by Paper Artsy. I don’t really know how to use them, so I simply add fun with them! I loved how they mixed well with the entire background.
When I was satisfied with it, I added a couple of stamps all around the tag. I wanted to add texture without thinking about it. I like doing this with backgrounds, I think the results are always great![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3694″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]As final touches, I added distress crackle paint, I let it dry for a bit then when I noticed that some cracks were forming already, I sped up the drying process with the heating tool. This is something that I don’t always do. I find that it is better if you let the crackle paint dry by itself, but hey, I am very impatient… and I cannot wait sometimes! But by speeding up the process with the heat tool I think I kinda stopped it from cracking in some place. This maybe because i didnt move the heat tool fast all around… so just as you know, this is normal! It is not the crackle paint not working! lol.
To highlight the cracks, I used white gesso. I simply put a bit of it on my craft sheet and with my fingers I let the color get into the cracks and then wiped off the excess.
I run the tag under my sewing machine after I added my sentiments and finally i added a photo just to balance everything.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_pageable][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][eltdf_content_title content_title=”project details”][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”3690,3691,3692,3693,3694,3695,3696,3697,3698,3699″ img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

  1. Amazing depth to your layered background – there’s a wonderful drama of light and dark in this tag. I’m off to listen to the music which inspired it. I often create to music with no words and I love how the mood somehow arrives in what I’m making.

  3. Lovely and very climatic. I always love your messy style of building background cause the final result is amazing, so many layers and textures and colors, perfectly mixed together. Hugs, Marzena
