Here we are to a brand new challange over Simon Says Stamp!

We are all super excited about the new Stamp and Stencil Set designed by the one and only Tim Holtz especially for STAMPtember®!! These sets are available for a limited time and once they have sold out they won’t be replaced! You need to get yours while they are in stock, you don’t want to miss out!!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is It’s Written In The Stars

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3064″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I stared my background by adding with a sponge a bit of gesso over my tag, then when it was dry I went over with a mix of blues distress ink. The gesso will act as resit and ti will show the stenciled image once I removed the color with a baby wipe. I blended in a bit of violet too and let everything blend beautifully together. The technique is really simple, it is the one that Tim Holtz always use — just a sponge with circular motion slowly add the color to the background! Easy peasy!
I let a couple of drops of water fell over the backrgound too. Love to see the distress ink react, I will never get bored![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3062″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I took another stencil with wider stars and with a wet baby wipe, I gently wiped off the color, this made the distress ink react and left me with a lighter star. I stitched the star trying to get the border correctly….but..ehmehm let’s say I could have done a better job! LOL!!
Anyway, since I had the sewing machine out, I decided to sew all around the border aswell. This is usually my last step when I am creating, but this time I did it at the beginning![/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”3066″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I looked through an old book till I found a line that spoke to my heart. It is in italian and translated in english it goes something like this “The serpent of fear crept into Penelope’s heart, but she was determined not to leave.”. And it speaks well with the photo that I choose to put in the middle of the tag. This photo was taken in Rome while I was there a couple of months ago. I wanted to meet an old friend of mine, we have been known each other since more than a decade — and I always had the fear that meeting him was going to ruin our beautiful friendship….. but of course the destiny wanted to play in and let him met another girl before even I had the chance to surprise him in Rome. LOL.

But don’t worry, things turned out good for me too.

Penelope is here to stay.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”3061,3062,3063,3064,3065,3066,3067″ img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

  1. Fabulous tag and as always, the depth of your layers of paint is amazing and I adore the stitched detail…wonderful work as always, Zoey! <3

  2. SUCH gorgeous colors in your tag and I love how you incorporated photography! I love your ability to say so much through your artistry and I’m glad you included a translation of your quote, too!

  3. Beautiful tag, Zoey! I love the gorgeous background and, of course, your sewing elements. The quote is amazing and perfect for the story behind it. Love your work because it always tells a story and reveals part of your soul.
