Here we are to a brand new challange over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is “Inspired by a Song”.
I was inspired by an old song that I used to listen too few years ago. This song brought me to tears so many times that I lost the count. The song is “A year from now – by Across Five Aprils” , a sad yet so beautiful song.
Happy fact: it didn’t make me cry this time.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1702″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_column_text]I started by covering my art journal page with Dina Wakley Heavy Body White Acrylic Paint and let it dry with the heat gun. When it was completely dry I added the first layer of color using Double Scoop Gelatos in BubbleGum color. I blended it with my fingers and a bit of water. I let the color get through all the cracks and crannies and then I let it dry.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1701″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_column_text]I kept adding layers of Acrylic White and Double Scoop Gelatos,  then I cut pieces of paper from the My Story paper pad and create a little cluster – then, since the paper were too distracting, I covered the paper partially with acrylics.

I sewed this photo over some other pieces of cardstock and then glued onto the page.
I stamped here and there using archival ink and with the aquarelle set from Faber Castell I created some shadows around the layers of paper.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1704″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_column_text]The sentiment is a verse from the song and I love how it matches the photo. And I also love how this page turned out. I know that this page is WAY too different from the project I usually make – but for me it has a deep meaning…sorta like a finish line, that I finally crossed. There is a very important piece of me in this page, and I hope you will be able to feel it.

I am not always happy with my art journal pages because most of the time I see too much pain in them. Not this one. I see happiness coming from within.

The photo was taken when I was living in L.A. and we were driving through Burbank on our way to eat Mexican Food to my at the time boyfriend’s mom house. I always loved spending time there, it was an house full of love and family bonds.
I am glad I am finally able to speak openly about him without crying like a baby. It took me only 3 years… Slowly but I got there.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

La canzone è “A year from now – by Across Five Aprils” , una canzone molto triste ma anche davvero molto bella.

  1. Zoey! Does your talent know no bounds? Here I was thinking that you were a 3D art genius and now I see that you are also an art journaling genius! This piece is remarkable and I love how it is so full of emotion. I also thought it was very courageous of you to base a project on such a tender time if your life and for sharing part of that story with us. I felt like crying myself because we all know how it feels to have our hearts in a billion pieces at one time or another. I’m so proud of you for putting all of that on paper and making something that is so meaningful for us to see, too.
