Here we are to a brand new challange over Simon Says Stamp!

This week’s theme over Simon Says Stamp Monday Challange is “Trio-tastic” ! Use 3 of something on your project!
For this week, I created 3 ATC cards where I used 3 butterflies each!

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2532″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I started by covering my ATC card with 3 strips of old book pages, the word “soar” that I die cut using the Tim Holtz Alphanumerical Thinlits and then I covered everything with gesso and a bit of water. I let it dry and then I took the Distress Paint in Salty Ocean color. I applied it with a brush and then added a bit of water to water it down a little. I did the same thing to the other ATCs and again,  set aside to dry very well.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2534″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]I covered the entire ATCs background with the Black Soot Distress Ink, let it set for a couple of second then I took it off with baby wipes. This left a slightly halo of black on the background, but not too much.
I die cut the butterflies from old book pages, if you are not into using old book pages (which is understandable) you can use any kind of scrapbook paper. I love using book pages – i find these at a thrift store near where I live. They all are from romance books that would be thrown away otherwise…so I like to give them a new “meaning”. Anyway… I colored the butterflies the same way I did with the background, a layer of gesso, a layer of Salty Ocean and a layer of Black Soot. Then after I let them dry well, I glued them together with a bit of GLue N Seal.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2531″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_circle_2″ onclick=”zoom”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]To bring back a bit of light, I wanted to add some white around the edges, to do so, I too Prima Marketing Art Extravagance Texture Paste — it didn’t crack much, but it definitely gave light! I stitched all around the edges of the ATCs and I also stitched over the working SOAR and I attached the butterflies to the ATC by stitches also.

The sentiment is , of course, a Tim Holtz stickers.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_gallery interval=”0″ images=”2528,2529,2530,2531,2532,2533,2534,2535″ img_size=”large”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

  1. Oh wow, Zoey! This is my favorite project of you so far! I love the rich petrol color you have achieved! I was reading for the color you’ve used and was very surprised to read that you’ve used Salty Ocean with Black Soot! I never would have guessed that it was possible to get amazing petrol color combining these too! I need to give that a try! Hugs, Sandra

  2. These are stunning, Zoe! You really have a wide range of color palettes that you use so skillfully! I am always impressed and inspired by the way you combine textures and patterns so beautifully. And your work has emotion behind it and that makes it even more powerful!

  3. Gorgeous trio of ATC’s, Zoey! Love the colors and the 3D butterflies, and the sewing, oh the stitches are a wonderful touch! Beautiful sentiments too! Happy Thanksgiving! Maura

  4. It seems impossible for this background to be so simple to make and having only two colors! I am speechless. I love your atc set so much! The texture, the colors, stitches and butterflies. Everything here is awesome! Can’t wait the next Monday 🙂 Hugs, Marzena
